Tasmanian NDIS rollout timeline

Tasmania, with 'ndis' in it.The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rollout has been announced for Tasmania. This page will help you find out when and where the NDIS is coming to you if you are in Tasmania.

The first stage of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) began in Tasmania on 1 July 2013 for young people, aged 15 to 24. From 1 July 2016, the NDIS will begin to roll out by age group over three years.

Tasmanian NDIS rollout timeline:

1 July 2016

  • children, aged 12 to 14

1 January 2017

  • adults, aged 25 to 28

1 July 2017

  • children, aged 4 to 11

1 January 2018

  • adults, aged 29 to 34

1 July 2018

  • children, aged 0 to 3, and
  • adults, aged 35 to 49

1 January 2019

  • adults, aged 50 to 64

By July 2019, the NDIS is expected to cover over 10,500 Tasmanians with disability.

Existing Commonwealth and state-based services and supports will continue until eligible people with disability start their NDIS plan.
